Situated about midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Tulare County is one of the largest counties in the fertile San Joaquin Valley and the second-leading producer of agricultural commodities in the United States.
Tulare County's 420,000-plus residents enjoy proximity to year-round recreation-the county is the gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and is home to Mount Whitney, which at 14,494 feet in elevation, is the tallest peak in the continental United States. Also nearby are opportunities for hiking, water and snow skiing, fishing, white water rafting, and boating.
